After using for a year, purchased another for upstairs media room. This is the best universal remote I have ever used. Controlled all equipment (Plasma tv, Onkyo 906 receiver, Directv HD DVR, Sony Blu-ray, Samsung Blu-ray, Panasonic DVD recorder) the first time and every time. All the buttons needed for DVR and Blu-ray control are centered around the toggle button (pause, play, rewind, fast forward, 30 second skip, 10 seconds back for instant replay, chapter skip) and are easy to use in the dark. The Monster remote is the only one that my wife can operate with no problems. I have added and changed equipment with the same result.
The 880 and 890 worked well at first but then the macro functions would stop controlling things properly and remote would need to be "updated" on a consistent basis. Set up and programming of macro functions was simple. Once again works perfectly.I have tried several harmony remotes. Controls everything correctly the first time and has never needed to be reprogrammed. Programmed individual buttons for one touch access to Netflix, Pandora, and YouTube from Samsung Blu-ray player and once again works perfectly.Love the toggle button in the middle of the remote, it is the best for navigating menus and guides. Also like the button layout and toggle better than the Harmony 880.
Highly recommend this remote.
I am currently using it to control my Apple computer's iTunes, my Apple TV, my DirecTV HD DVR, my Sony plasma TV, my Yamaha DVD player and my Yamaha Amp/Receiver. This remote is very easy to use and completely controls all of your home theater devices. I use it to get my TV ready for the Wii (turning off everything but the TV and changing the audio and video inputs, but since the Wii has Bluetooth controls, not RF, I still need to turn that on with my Wii remote (not the fault of the Monster AV100).This is a great remote and not expensive. No offense to "radio producer" Dave L and his self proclaimed technical expertice, but he must have set his remote up wrong. I am not an overly technical guy, about average for a 50 year old I would say, and I had NO PROBLEM with any of the set up nor with controlling stuff. If you enter the brand and model of your devices they will be controlled perfectly by this device. My neighbor paid more than twice as much for a remote that is much less intuitive (the monster changes the labels of its "soft buttons" depending on what device you are controlling). BUY IT, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
Functionally the product is very good and works well. However, the documentation is not very intuitive and programing requires an online computer connection.
Once setup correctly, this home theatre controller is excellent, the best part is just having one remote for all activities, it is however a little time consuming during setup.
The remote does have a hiccup here or there and doesn't turn off a component sometimes, but just push the help button and the remote asks the user a series of questions to correct the mistake. This is a huge plus for me, because I've had remotes in the past that did not properly operate the menu or settings for the specific components, so I would have to get the original remote out which made the universal one useless.Another great feature is that the backlight comes on as soon as you move the remote.
I was initially intimidated by the thought of all the programming, but the software is simple and FAST. This remote is so easy to program and use.
Also all buttons work properly for ALL components. Everything works as advertised.
Battery life is surprisingly long, and the charger works perfectly (as opposed to the logitech models). This is great when you have a dark room during a good movie.
It's extremely easy.I would highly recommend this remote to anyone who doesn't want the hassle of having 4 or 5 different remotes laying around.
